- Ocean water is a complex mixture of gases (air) and dissolved solids (salts, especially sodium chloride). Marine organisms are dependent on dissolved gages for survival.
"Ocean Floor Springs Prove Full of Life," is a narrated and closed captioned video, just over two minutes in length, showing actual footage as well as computer generated animations of underwater vents. The video discusses underwater vents as both geological features of the seafloor and habitats for communities of small marine organisms. This video may spark discussion related to the Earth's internal functions that lead to landform formation and how ocean floor springs provide clues to how life arose on Earth.
